Blizzard at Coney Island

There is something apocalyptic about being at an ocean side amusement park at the height of a blizzard.

Stormy March

The month of March, 2018 has served up three major snowstorms in the first two weeks!
The blizzard that coincided with the full moon caused major coastal flooding which wiped away much the dunes at Salisbury Beach in Massachusetts.

The storm last week created a huge swell with bright green waves and left a residue of a neon green foam which I have not been able to figure out what it is. Is it algae or antifreeze?.

In the falling snow, it was a strange, but beautiful sight.

Stress Balls

These balls relieve stress.
I don't even have to pick them up.
So much going on at the same time.
Mysterious pains and repetitive inner voices.
I look at the stress balls.
They remind me to relax, smile and forget the background noise.
We will get through this minor annoyance and everything will be better on the other side.

And More Winter Weather

Three days ago we had snow and lots of it.
Yesterday we enjoyed spring weather with temperatures in the 60's farenheit.
Today we have summer weather with temps in the 70's.
And tomorrow we expect snow!

Living in New England and Loving It!!
These are photos from February 18th in Massachusetts.

Mount Etna and The Greek Theater in Taormina, Sicily

I completed this painting sometime ago and just posted it today on Fine Art America.

Sicily is a favorite vacation destination. The sun, the food, the people. My grandfather grew up in the town of Pedara on the volcano, Mount Etna. I have some very sweet memories of my visits there.

New Orleans On My Mind

This Week is Mardi Gras!
New Orleans is known for its Mardi Gras citywide Celebation!
We have visited The Big Easy for the Jazz Festival on several occasions and so, when we gear up for Fat Tuesday, how can we not think of New Orleans?

A few snapshots from our visits.

Like cafe au lait and begnet, the muffuletta is a must for lunch in the French quarter.

One of the best breakfasts I have ever had was at Elizabeth's: a bowl of fresh cut fruit and an order of praline bacon with cafe au lait.

My dream home.

Winter Weather

We had a snowstorm in New England this week.
Schools cancelled, the roads were messy and the plows were everywhere.

Photographing snow can be tricky and best done under a cloudy sky that doesn't break for the sun. We don't have to go far for a winter wonderland when the snow is still white.

These photos were taken and edited on my
Samsung s7Edge in Pro Mode, which allows for capturing RAW images.

I edited the photos with the free Snapseed app right on my phone.

Sometimes it seems like we live inside of a Snow Globe!

My Road Trip Portfolio on Shutterstock

My Portfolio is uploaded on Shutterstock. I am adding to it from years of road trips so it is a work in progress. So far, this file is from the American Southwest: Arizona and New Mexico. It was a great road trip including The Grand Canyon, The Painted Desert, The Petrified Forest and, of course, Route 66.

Happy New Year!

Jigsaw Puzzles, Photography and Road Trips occupy my time these days. I paint in oil and use pastels in my drawing. I am sharing my work and adventures on this blog.

2017 had its ups and downs: down involved a broken left wrist and right ankle (at the same time!) and I didn't have a summer to speak of. But an autumn road trip from Seattle to Los Angeles was one of our best vacations ever. 2018 should be much, much better! So Happy New Year it is!

I am concentrating on my photography with my Olympus SLR and my Samsung s7 Edge, working in Photoshop on my desktop, and Snapseed on my phone and Lightroom on my iPad. I give you my Best Nine on Instagram from 2017:
